Microscopes and a fume hood are required to complete this task. The teacher reserves a sufficient amount of fabric samples of different types. They are studied with microscopes and burn tests. Books on materials should be made available. 

Identifying materials

Your teacher will give you different types of fabric. Identify the fibre composition of the fabric provided by using burn tests and by studying the fabric under a microscope. Write down your observations of the burn behaviour, smell and remains.
